What a brilliant way to mark my first match as captain! Despite the cold and intermittent drizzle, both teams brought tremendous spirit to the courts, resulting in a perfectly balanced 54-54 draw that kept everyone guessing until the final point.

Pairing 1: Matt Holmes & Sally Herrick 
23-13 (5-7, 10-2, 8-4)
A fantastic fight from us! After dropping a set 5-7, we absolutely dominated with a commanding 10-2 performance in another. Then carried that momentum brilliantly into the decider, wrapping up an 8-4 win to secure crucial games for Keyworth.

Pairing 2: Jim Bell & Abby Walton
15-21 (4-8, 8-4, 3-9)
A real battle from Jim and Abby, who showed terrific fighting spirit throughout. Their 8-4 set win demonstrated excellent quality, though sets of 4-8 and 3-9 went against them. Their effort and determination kept us competitive throughout.

Pairing 3: Nigel Millband & Jen Turnbull 
16-20 (2-9, 8-4, 5-7)
Nigel and Jen showed tremendous character throughout their matches. After a tough 2-9 opening, they bounced back brilliantly with an 8-4 victory. Though they narrowly missed out 5-7 in their final set, their fighting spirit exemplified the day's competitive atmosphere.
