After a particularly rainy and miserable end to the summer the sun came out for us on Saturday 14th September for Finals Day.  A big thanks to all those who participated throughout the tournament (a fantastic 74% of members), and for all those who came down on the day to watch some great club tennis.

LTA officials came to preside over the day’s play which saw 3 courts being used for much of the day.  The weather was pretty perfect for a day of tennis and it made for some great matches, so a big well done to those that put on a great show!

A very tasty lunch was catered by Dawn Kempster and yummy sweet bakes were brought by many, so thank you to all for doing your bit!

The Club Championships and Finals Day is brought about through the collaborative work of committee members over several months, and Bob did a great job of ensuring the day went smoothly from start to finish, ending with the raffle draw and the presentation of trophies and certificates.  And of course, the new ‘Guess the Percy Pigs in the jar,’ which everyone had lots of fun calculating/weighing and making some interesting/accurate guesses!  Don’t eat them all at once Simon!

The committee would like to thank all those who helped in some way or other on the day – it does not go unnoticed and is much appreciated.

We’re pleased to say a healthy profit was made from entry fees, lunch/refreshments and raffle takings which will be ploughed back into the club and used towards future projects to benefit LBTC and its members!
