Finals Day - 9 Sept 2023
Many thanks to all those who came along to give support to the participants on Saturday’s Finals Day following their success through the tournament rounds to reach a place in the Finals.
Six LTA officials came to preside over the day’s play which saw 3 courts being used for much of the day. With temperatures of over 30°C, the players were buoyed on in the wilting heat by the great atmosphere created by those cheering them on.
A tasty lunch was provided by Dawn Kempster and Steve Morley and there were plenty of sweet treats which were generously donated by several people. The new card payment machine worked a treat and made it much easier to pay for lunch refreshments and the raffle.
The Club Championships and Finals Day is brought about through the collaborative work of committee members over several months, and Bob did a great job of ensuring the day went smoothly from start to finish, ending with the raffle draw and the presentation of trophies and certificates.
The committee would like to thank all those who helped in some way or other on the day – it does not go unnoticed and is much appreciated:
Providing raffle prizes; putting up bunting; tidying up the courts; setting up seating for the officials & players; serving lunch; washing/drying-up; clearing away
We’re pleased to say a profit was made from entry fees, lunch/refreshments and raffle takings which will be ploughed back into the club and used towards future projects to benefit LBTC and its members.
