Sunday 21st April saw another very successful Fay Morrilly Tournament at Leighton Buzzard Tennis Club. The sun came out for some wonderful tennis by lots of players of all ability levels spread across the 4 courts. A well-formatted tournament to play, in teams with a rotating doubles partner which was great for social fun as well as tennis play. A great day was had by all!
There some very tight games and plenty of banter and fun with teams all wanting to win the coveted trophy. It was all very close, but Zoe's team - The Crocker's Corkers - won the Tournament, so congratulations to the team of Zoe, Ian, Thomas, Max, Steven, Ann & Jo.
Big thanks to all those who came along to support. We managed to raise a whopping £292 for Cancer and Parkinson's charities! Not only were there some great games of tennis played but some wonderful refreshments put on by the club with kind contributions from many members and also towards the raffle at the end of the day. Our local Vimy Road Tesco did us proud by donating several raffle prizes which all helped in raising those extra pounds for such a great cause, so big thanks to them too!
It couldn't have been done of course without the organisation of Bob and Dawn and other members who all helped a smashing day to come together. Another successful day for Leighton Buzzard Tennis Club! Bring on the sunnier days and some more tournaments for all to enjoy! Keep an eye on your emails now that the summer Club Championships have been announced.
Look forward to seeing you on court soon. Happy Tennis!
