Great news! We have a new social club session for Full members starting up. ‘Super-Social Sundays’ will be held on selected Sundays between 10.30-12.30pm.
The first session will be on SUNDAY 11TH MAY, 10.30-12.30pm.
Feedback from the recent Club Night survey indicated a desire for:
- More numbers and a broader playing standard of attendees
- Sunday club session
- Opportunity to socialise
So, we’d like to invite Full members from all sectors of the club to participate in the sessions and, with more players attending than at regular club nights, it should create pockets of players of a similar playing ability whatever your level is. This means there should be opportunity for stronger players to have the chance to stay challenged by similar players, while Improvers can develop at a comfortable pace within their own peer group. Of course, the ethos of social tennis will remain and part of the session may involve a mix-up of players to ensure that everyone is involved and all players have a fair rotation of sitting out if there are excess numbers.
Make it social! Why not stay for a while after playing and bring along a drink or snack and catch up with some friends, or maybe get to make some new ones! Feel free to bring along family and friends to watch and have a relaxed chit-chat on the veranda. The bar is usually open when the cricket is on.
Format: Similar to regular club nights.
- Doubles play takes priority
- Short sets if players are waiting to join in
- Intended as a drop-in session with no notice of attendance required
- Players sort out their own games
- Club balls provided
For the first session, to help us get a feel for how many will be attending, we will set up a WhatsApp poll. After that, it will be a drop-in. Committee members will be joining in and can help to organise games if required.
Even if you don’t currently attend any social sessions, we hope that you will give Super-Social Sundays a go!
Diary Dates:
Sunday 11th May – Super-Social Sunday
Saturday 7th June – Fay Morrilly tournament
Sunday 6th July – Super-Social Sunday
Dates are being chosen when there are no Home league matches, so that all four courts can be used. If successfully attended then the sessions may continue beyond the summer.
