On Saturday 14th June, Leighton Buzzard Tennis Club hosted the annual Fay Morrilly Tournament, a spirited and inclusive day of tennis that brought together 30 players of all skill levels for a fun, team-based doubles competition.
Rather than traditional knockout matches, players were grouped into teams, with every point counting towards the overall score. The format encouraged camaraderie, strategy, and lively competition, as each team battled to accumulate the most points and claim the tournament trophy. Tilley's Tremors, captained by Grahame Tilley, were the triumphant team on the day.
Beyond the exciting tennis, the event had a meaningful cause at its heart - raising funds for charity. Thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of participants and supporters, the tournament raised just over £300, making it a successful day both on and off the court. This year the club has chosen to support Prostate Cancer and Brain Tumour charities.
The Fay Morrilly Tournament was a fantastic showcase of club community spirit, sportsmanship, and love for the game. With such a positive response once again, it always promises to be a much-anticipated fixture in the club’s calendar.
