Information For Visitors (Draft)

When and where is it?

  • The festival is on 22nd June 2024 between 1-5pm. It will be held at Newman Collard Park in the village of Liss: postcode GU33 7LY.

What is the festival?

  • A chance to come and see what local social, sports, cultural, creative, and fitness groups have to offer.

Is there an entry fee?

  • No, there is no entry fee and lots of activities will be free for visitors. Some items and raffle tickets will be on sale to raise money for local sports facilities.

Will I need money?

  • Yes, - there will be things to buy and spend money on including food and refreshments, games stalls, bouncy castles etc. many of the smaller stalls, clubs and societies are not set up for electronic payments so some cash  would be usefil.

Where can I park?

  • Newman Collard car park will be closed for the other event and will only be available for stallholders and disabled users
  • Additional car parking spaces are available at Liss school and in the main village car park in Hill Brow road
  • The school will also open their managed car park so that extra spaces are available on the day at the school

What is there to do?

  • Clubs and groups cover activities from archery to yoga! We’ll have music, games stalls, a fire engine, bouncy castles and more.

Do visitors need to be a member of the clubs, societies to take part in the activities they are running?

  • No, anybody can take part. We want the festival to be a chance to try something new.

Is the Festival for children or adults?

  • The festival is for all age groups, interests, and abilities. Permission must be given by a child’s parent or guardian before any activities are undertaken unless they are unattended.

Will photos by taken?

  • The tennis club will not take photos. Other clubs and societies may be taking photos but have been requested to ask permission.

Are refreshments available?

  • The local Scouts are running a BBQ, Guides and Brownies a tea shop and the football club will run a bar.
  • An ice cream van will also be on site along with a coffee bar

Are there toilets on site?

  • Yes, toilets can be found in the clubhouse and will be signposted.

How will visitors find their way around the site?

  • Clubs and societies will set-up on the football pitches. A site plan will be available at the clubhouse. We will have a lost child and meeting point there.

What should visitors do if they need help/there is an emergency?

  • Organisers and marshal(s) will wear distinctive jackets/t-shirts. They will communicate with each other and can use a loudspeaker to communicate with visitors if necessary.

Will the event go ahead if the weather is bad?

  • Yes, we intend to proceed even if it rains or is very hot. Clubs and societies will decide whether it is safe to run activities.

Are there any other risks?

  • Participation in activities will be at the risk of visitors who will be briefed by clubs and societies as necessary.

Is first aid available?

  • First-aiders will be in attendance and available at the clubhouse.
  • There's a defibrillator located n the pavilion should one be required

How can visitors help make sure the event runs smoothly?

  • Visitors are asked to follow signage and advice given by clubs, societies, and organisers. Please also use the litter bins/bags provided.
