18 members donned their "Winbledon whites" for the club's Wooden Racquet tournament, which was played in glorious sunshine on Sunday 12th May.
Using a range of wooden racquets from members' lofts, refurbished from online purchases and some from the clubhouse walls, everyone stepped back to a bygone era of tennis with a lot less topspin to try their hand.
The round robin format gave everyone a range of partners and opponents, with Jenny McCaffrey the runaway winner, dropping just 2 games out of the 28 she played with 7 different partners.
Everyone enjoyed a fun morning of social tennis - unfortunately the promised strawberries didn;t make it after a hot weekend and all the shops sold out, but hopefully the scones, jam and cream made up for it.
Look out for the next club competition - our early summer American Tournament on Sunday 2nd June
