The Springhead Park public tennis court site has 4 floodlit hard courts which are free to access throughout the year! These tennis courts are located in a busy part of the park and are fully accessible for anyone wanting to play tennis including full-time wheelchair users. The car park is located within 100 yards from the courts and the toilet facilities are inclusive and accessible via the cafe located next to the court entrance. The Pavilion café also serves hot food. You will be able to travel to and from the courts by public transport (the 9, 22 and 444 are the buses that get you near main car park - the nearest bus stop is on Gillet Lane).
The park courts have a free court reservation system and have weekly junior & adult coaching sessions run by qualified licensed LTA coaches. New players of any age or standard are always welcome and no previous playing experience is necessary. Please go to coaching page for more information on the coaching programme.
Please note that courts are available for booking free of charge, however floodlit courts cost £2.50 per 30 minutes. Required floodlight cards are available from the rothwell library and the café at springhead park, as are floodlight box keys which cost £2 to access the floodlight machine as a one off purchase. Therefore, we recommend that you buy these items before they close on an evening. Lastly, only 2 courts are currently floodlit (courts 2 and 4), yet we are looking to get all 4 back in action very soon!
Note that the courts may be closed at around 4pm on Thursday 5th November 2020 due to bonfire night.
We hope to see you down playing at the courts very soon!
