PICKLEBALL

Here at Stocksbridge Tennis Club we are introducing PICKLEBALL on our outdoor courts and have 16 pickleball paddles, balls and roll/throw down lines to adapt the tennis court lines.  Click here to go the PICKLEBALL page for helpful videos and tips to get started as well as the US  official Pickleball rules to refer to.

Annual Membership is open now to start straight away today and lasts up until 30th April 2025.

Social Tennis is played throughout the year, weather permitting.

Book an 'OPEN DAY VISIT' by leaving your contact details and we will get back to you. Alternatively you may wish to join in with one of our CLUB RUN SESSIONS, in which case just turn up or leave a message so we can ensure someone is there to greet and include you in our social tennis set up.

For those players who are thinking of joining on their own or WANT  TO MEET OTHERS TO PLAY and would like  to widen their circle of tennis contacts, we have several WhatsApp groups to choose from to meet other players to suit you.

The Club is a non-profit making, community sports club (CASC) run entirely by enthusiastic volunteers offering beginners and experienced players of all ages and abilities the chance to play tennis, locally and affordably.

With around 140 members we are a small friendly, informal community club, yet large enough to offer a range of coaching, social and league tennis opportunities. Should you wish to join as a member, take a look at our remarkably low fees that allow you to book courts and play all for FREE – our club volunteers work hard to run the club to keep prices affordable!

Our facilities include four floodlit all weather open texture porous Macadam courts and a comfortable clubhouse, allowing us to continue to play all year round.

The club caters for a wide range of standards and abilities from beginners to Division 1 players. We have entered more than TWENTY TEAMS this year into the Sheffield and District and other local leagues, in a number of divisions on different days to suit  everyone. We rotate players in squads so every player who wants to take part, gets the opportunity to do so.

Under our LTA insurance terms, our courts are not available for public hire, however our membership fees are so competitive compared to short term court hire at other local facilities - why not join us anyway? To help you get started we have free social tennis several times a week at different levels (including free club run starter sessions for beginners/improvers) and a practise wall. Our club has a traditon of developing our own players from scratch with a great bunch of friendly, inclusive members, ready to welcome and help you. From day one - or as soon as you decide you feel confident enough -  we will look to match you up with other players to practise with and play against. We have a number of WhatsApp groups to suit different players to enable people to meet others for a game of tennis. Alternatively you may want to join with a friend or family member. Our Head Coach Ryan offers some private lessons.

Instead of the LTA ‘Places-to-Play’ scheme for non-members we initially offer FREE access to the  courts and club during all our club run sessions which your are more than welcome to attend through our free all-year-round 'OPEN DAY' visits programme whilst you decide whether our community club suits you.

The Club is an independent section within the Stocksbridge Works Sports & Social Club (SWSSC). As such, the object of the Tennis Club is to provide facilities for and promote participation for the whole community in the sport of tennis, including free use of the courts by local schools during the school day.

If you would like to know more about the club please feel free to get in touch with our Chair Graham by email at chair.STC@gmail.com or with Claire (Membership) on 07577040409 - outside school hours please.  We look forward to hearing from you.
