Tennis@Churchill, a 4 court indoor tennis centre based at Churchill Community College, Wallsend, is the first Northumberland venue to achieve Tennismark Plus status. This accreditation was awarded in recognition of the excellent practice at the club and is the highest possible achievement for tennis venues across the Country. The accreditation is a tennis-specific version of Clubmark implemented by Sport England in 2006.

Tennismark Plus recognises that Tennis@Churchill provides a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment and offers a high quality programme of activity. It acknowledges that the club has close links with primary and secondary schools and that all of the policies are of a high standard (child protection, equality, health and safety).

Head Coach Phil Givens said: “Tennis@Churchill has worked very hard over its short history to increase participation in tennis. It is a fantastic facility which provides players of all ages and abilities the chance to play in a safe and welcoming environment. I know this award will enable the club to go from strength to strength. We pride ourselves on being a unique tennis club that offers indoor tennis all year round for members and non-members at an affordable price. We hope that we are developing the next Davis Cup winning squad right here! ”
