Junior Coaching
The club is keen to introduce children to the sport of tennis and not only develop their tennis skills but also assist with their personal development in a safe, friendly, and supportive environment. If you’re looking to introduce your child to a sport, tennis is a great option on many levels. Our junior programme not only develops children’s tennis abilities and skills but also other important aspects of their physical and mental wellbeing.
- Physical Development - Children are always growing and the more active they are, the better they grow. Tennis has many physical benefits including developing coordination, speed, agility, leg strength, and flexibility. Tennis can also help improve a child’s bone strength, muscle growth and bone density. Children who play sports also tend to have stronger immune systems. Tennis is a great way for kids to burn calories and stay healthy and in shape.
- Mental Development - Tennis can challenge a child’s mind and help with mental development. Children learn how to think and plan their next moves and deal with stress and disappointment. They learn how to get creative and keep score and how to predict their opponent’s next move and plan their own moves accordingly. Tennis can make children sharp and quick to react and it can improve their reflexes, awareness and reasoning. Children who play sports tend to learn and absorb information faster.
- Social Development - Tennis is a great way for children to socialise and it can teach them social skills they they will use throughout their lives. Children learn how to meet and talk to new people and the value of teamwork. They also learn how to encourage other players and support them. When children win they learn to be gracious winners and when they lose they learn how to congratulate the winners and learn from their mistakes. Children who play tennis tend to be more confident in various new situations and make lasting friendships and connections.

Junior Programme
Term time coaching sessions run on Monday afternoons, after school, and on Saturday mornings with players signing up on a school term basis. Individual sessions offer a structured programme of activity designed to develop competencies and enjoy tennis based activity in a safe and enjoyable environment. The junior programme is based upon the LTA Youth development pathway which groups children of similar ages and abilities into colour-coded groups and coaching sessions.
Mini Tennis is a great introduction to the sport for young children between 4 and 10 years old. It’s just like the real thing, but with smaller courts, nets and rackets and lower-bouncing balls. There are three levels of Mini Tennis; Red, Orange and Green, each with their own court size and type of ball. Juniors aged 11 and over form the final Yellow group which involves regular tennis balls and a full size court. This tailored approach, based on age and physical maturity, enables juniors to develop vital skills and techniques as they progress through the various levels.
Junior Camps
Junior camps run during the school holidays and offer loads of fun where kids can meet, play tennis, and make new friends. We aim to develop their skills and to learn the art of tennis. In each session, we work on improving hand-eye coordination, involve the children in team games, practice rallying, and play points and matches. These activities are great for juniors' self-confidence and team play. We create an encouraging, supportive, and dynamic environment to ensure a fun-filled school holiday or term break activity for your children.
