The weekend of 13-14 September saw Woodland Tennis Club’s annual Finals Weekend: the culmination of our club championships which started in June.  Nine finals were held over the two days in both adults and veterans competitions. All matches were of excellent quality with many going to tie-breaks and third sets. Four of our members, Katie Ashman, Frances Ball, Claire Norvill and Phil Orchard reached three finals each. 

Our top achiever of the weekend was Katie Ashman who won the ladies singles, mixed-doubles with Alex De la Cruz and the ladies doubles with Claire Norvill.  The Norvill family had a successful weekend with Claire’s dad Roger Norvill (aged 86) winning the veteran’s mixed doubles with Frances Ball.  The weekend was very well supported by members, friends and family who were served fabulous cakes and sandwiches throughout.
