Summer season June 1st to October 31st

Winter season Nov 1st - March 31st


If you would like to play some friendly yet competitive singles tennis, why not come and join our  in-house Club  Singles Ladder League. 

The ladder is open to all adult and junior members (13-18yrs) and aims to be a friendly way to play matches outside of clubnight. The Singles Ladder League is a friendly in house club competition, and a fantastic way to meet other members whilst playing a greater diversity of opponents.

Our Singles ladder is an excellent opportunity to improve your game and expand your social network within the club.  The ladder programme is gender neutral…both men and women are encouraged to join and you will be positioned in the ladder according to your skill level.

How do I join the Singles Ladder?

 

Players are welcome to join the singles ladder at any moment in time and can do so by sending an email to our ladder secretary Ian Craig at:

How do I arrange a Singles match?


You will receive an email containing the Singles Ladder with contact details of all players. Contact the other member in the ladder to arrange a match, be sure to book a court and arrange a time to play when there are no conflicting club programmes (i.e. league play, junior programme).The players are responsible for providing reasonable tennis balls for the match or using clubhouse balls.


How do I challenge another player?

 

  1. It is up to the challenger to make contact with their opponent.
  2. You may challenge anyone on the ladder, up to and including 6 places above you (Winter Ladder only) (Summer Ladder 4 places only).
  3. There is no limit as to the number of challenges (matches) you can play.
  4. You MUST NOT play another match until your previous challenge (match ) has been recorded on the ladder by the ladder secretary.
  5. Winter Ladder - Players are expected to play a minimum of two matches a month otherwise HE or SHE will be dropped a maximum of 5 places.
  6. Summer Ladder - Players are expected to play a minimum of two matches a month otherwise HE or SHE will be dropped a maximum of  3 places. The leading player however is exempt from this requirement.
  7. Exisiting players who drop out of the ladder within the month and not having played their matches will move to the bottom of the ladder. These players Do Not return to their previous ladder position.
  8. Only in extenuating circumstances will the above rule not apply and the player MUST have communicated their reason via email or WhatsApp to the Fixtures Secretary.The leading player however is exempt from this requirement.
  9. A player who is challenged must agree to a match with the challenger no later than two weeks after the challenge has been made unless:

a. The challenged player already has either played 2 matches or has played 1 match and received another challenge.

b. The challenged player is unable to play due to injury, holiday etc.

c. The two players cannot mutually agree on a date and time for a match.
 


CHANGE OF LADDER POSITIONS FOLLOWING COMPLETION OF A MATCH ARE AS FOLLOWS:

 

  1. If the person being challenged wins then there is no change in ladder position.
  2. If the challenger wins, he or she takes over the position of the person they challenged.
  3. The challenged person moves to the challengers position.
  4. The calculation for movement on the Singles Ladder is based on the position of the two players at the time that the match results are received by the Club Ladder Secretary.
  5. The Singles Ladder will be updated when results have been received by the Ladder Secretary in date and time order.
  6. All ladder positions will be available to view on the club website.

 


Match Rules

Scoring will be based upon the FAST4 tennis format, which ensures matches can be completed in 1 hour.

 

  • All matches to be played in 1 hour.
  • First to 8 games wins the match.
  • A “Match” = first to reach 8 games (i.e. "best of  15 games") in one extended Set.  
  • Tiebreaker at 7 games all.
  • Tie break  played to 7 points, 2 clear points at 6-6 (changing ends after every 6 points)
  • No advantage scoring – if the score reaches deuce, it’s a sudden death point.

 


Where do I report the Match Results?

 

  1. At the end of a match the score has to be registered by the winner by sending the results to our ladder secretary Ian Craig Via email : Alsagersltcsinglesladder@gmail.com or via the WhatsApp Singles ladder group.
  2. Please note who was the challenger and who was challenged.
  3. Please note the date and time the match was played.Failure to do so may result in a mix up of the ladder.
  4. please note the score. 
  5. If either party is more than 15 minutes late in attending an agreed match, then the late or non-attender loses the match (unless sufficient reason) Please decide before playing the game what will happen if it rains or the game has to be abandoned for any reason.
