Girls and young women at BTC
Sun, 12 Apr 2026 00:00
It's an aim of ours this year to support more girls and young women to play more tennis and pickleball. And part of this is helping those of you who are keen to meet one another and get to know how the club works.
To this end, have a look below at what we're offering and sign up to whatever suits you.
And please tell a friend or bring a friend to try out some of the sessions too! If they like it, membership for the year is only £3.20 a month.
Tennis-based sessions for girls or young women only (free or subsidised)
- PRIMARY girls only, introduction to tennis and coaching with club coach Charlotte King: Fridays, 3.15-4pm, during term time. Small fee. Booking details to follow.
- SECONDARY young women only, Friday evening social, tennis and music on new Court 4 with club coach Charlotte King: Fridays, 7-8pm, 8th, 15th and 22nd May. Free for you to attend, no previous tennis experience needed. Book here
- ALL girls and young women only (8-18 years old) Cardio Tennis on new Court 4, with lead coach Paul Dickinson: Cardio tennis is fast exercise, with music, no previous tennis experience needed. Sundays 10-11am on: 7th, 21st, 28th June and 5th July. Free for you to attend. Book here
Play in your own time
As members you can all book a court to play at times that suit you. Log in to your account on our website or the Booker app and it is free for you to book courts. If you get stuck, email bamfordtennis.secretary@gmail.com and we'll help.
We also have a hitting wall for practising your shots alone. If you want to come down to use this, book Court 1.
We have left tennis balls for you to use in a blue plastic container on the bench in the main room in the clubhouse. Padlock code to get into the clubhouse is: 1724. Please return them when you have finished. As you get stronger, move from red- to orange- to green- to full-ball.
If you do not have a tennis racket, email bamfordtennis.secretary@gmail.com and we can arrange to lend you one.
Hopefully you'll meet others to play with by attending a few club events. One way to help you then arrange to play with others at times that suit you is to join our WhatsApp group for young women 13-18 years of age. For U18s the club requires one of your parents or guardians to join the group too for safeguarding purposes. Contact bamfordtennis.secretary@gmail.com to join this group.
Pickleball
The revamped Court 4 will be set up for pickleball, as well as tennis. Pickleball is quicker to get good at than tennis, and fun! Find out more about it with a few videos on our website: https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/bamfordtennis/Playing/Pickleball
If you fancy a go, book to play on Court 4 (from May onwards). All players can borrow balls and bats from the club.
Come down to the club's Open Day on 4th May
We're hosting an Open Day at the club on the next bank holiday Monday, 4th May. Come down 2-4pm. And if you're there at 2.30 we're going to be cutting the ribbon on the new Court4. There'll be a chance to try out pickleball with our head coach Paul, or tennis activities with other coaches on Courts 1-3. We'd love to see you there! Bring a friend or family if you like - the event is open and free to everyone. With tea and cake too.
Take part in one of the club's regular mixed drop-in social tennis sessions
For those of you who are confident to serve and rally, you're welcome at the club mixed social drop-in sessions, open to all club members, every Monday at 6pm and Sunday at 10am. It's a friendly bunch of people. You mix in with whoever else is there, rotating partners. Several juniors attend regularly and enjoy it. People let others know if they'll be attending via the Bamford Social WhatsApp group. Contact bamfordtennis.secretary@gmail.com to join this group. (For U18s the club requires one of your parents or guardians to join the group too for safeguarding purposes.)
For girls and boys in years 3 to 7, there is a junior mixed social drop-in Saturday mornings throughout the summer, 8.30-9.30am. This is led by two tennis-playing parents, as volunteers. Young people's adults can join the WhatsApp to hear more about it. Look in our WhatsApp Bamford Tennis Community for the group 'Junior social tennis Y3 to Y7'.
Tennis coaching
The club runs mixed coaching every term-time throughout the year. For prices and booking details, look at the coaching page on our website: https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/bamfordtennis/Coaching
If you have other ideas or suggestions or observations, please let us know. And ask if you have any questions. Otherwise we look forward to maybe seeing you down at the club before too long!
