Rotary Club - Commemorative Plaque Presentation

Clive Robertson, Chairman of Tynedale Rotary & Ian Colquhoun, Chairman of Corbridge Tennis club along with Richard Hart-Jackson of Tynedale Rotary & Nick Steenberg of Corbridge Tennis club met at the club this morning to unveil a commemorative plaque. The  Rotary Club had made a most generous donation to pay for the full repairs to the club's floodlights which were damaged by Storm Desmond in December 2015.

The total cost for the repairs were in the region of £3,600, Ian expressed his thanks on behalf of the members to Clive for their generous donation.

                                                  Corbridge Tennis Club - Floodlight Grant

Corbridge Tennis Club in Corbridge, Northumberland has been awarded £3,600 of  funding secured by the Rotary Club of Tynedale from Rotary International Great Britain & Ireland (RIBI), to make good floodlighting equipment which was badly damaged as a result of Storm Desmond in December 2015.

Corbridge Tennis club used its £3,600 award to replace the damaged Floodlighting control panel, underground cabling and token boxes. The work was carried out by local electrician Peter Barclay who also has close ties with Tynedale Rugby Club, the tennis club’s landlords.

Richard Hart-Jackson from Tynedale Rotary “We are delighted to have been able to obtain this emergency funding for Corbridge Tennis Club to help it get back up and running as soon as possible. This is part of our continuing programme to help the Tynedale community recover from the disastrous consequences of Storm Desmond.”

Ian Colquhoun, Chairman from Corbridge Tennis club said: “We are delighted that The Rotary Club of Tynedale has been able to obtain this award from RIBI which has allowed us to repair the Floodlights and re-open our Tennis club for tennis in the evenings so that the community can once more benefit from these facilities.”
