Notice to Members & Visitors
Court Etiquette
- Do not adjust or tamper with the net mechanism - this will be set by the club each morning and slackened each night to protect the net posts
- Do not play or pull on the nets as this will weaken the posts and damage the nets
- No dogs
- No scooters
- No football or rugby balls - Courts only for tennis use
- No cans of pop. Only use water or non drip water bottles
- No smoking or vaping
- No Food apart from fruit or energy snacks
- All litter and rubbish to be placed in the bin near court 4
- No trainers/shoes with studs - only trainers suitable for tennis to be worn on court
- All children to be supervised
The clubs main aim is that every member and visitor enjoys playing at Rockcliffe and helping to look after the facilities is paramount.

Introduction
Rockcliffe Bowling and Tennis Club is a friendly and welcoming club situated on the beautiful Whitley Bay coastline with views of St Mary's Lighthouse and the North Sea.
Founded in 1925 the club offers bowls on a county standard green and currently 3 artificial grass (tiger turf) tennis courts.
The clubhouse is equipped with changing rooms, toilets, kitchen and lounge area overlooking the park.
We offer a varied programme of tennis activities for both children and adults on a weekly basis. Our coaching is delivered by an experienced LTA registered coach, Carlos Caldeira, who also runs childrens camps during the school holidays.
We welcome all ages and abilities.
Non members are very welcome to pay and play.
Rockcliffe joined the LTA in 2024 and have 3 teams entered in the Northumberland & Durham Tennis League. Men 1st team , Men's Vets team and a Mixed Vets team.
Club Play
All members regardless of experience and ability, are welcome to attend the Club sessions on Saturdays. These are open, friendly sessions and a great way of meeting people and playing some tennis. Club sessions are pre-booked via the clubs WhatsApp group. Please contact a committee member or email the club if you'd like to be added to the clubs WhatsApp group.
Men's 1st team Practice :
Tuesdays from 5pm - attendance arranged via the clubs 1st team WhatsApp group.
Social Club sessions for all members:
Saturdays from 10am - attendance arranged via the clubs main WhatsApp group.
Beginners sessions for all members:
Saturdays from 12pm - attendance arranged via the clubs Beginnners WhatsApp group.
Opening Times:
9:00am - 9:00pm
