2025 End of Season Report
The end of our first season using our new pavilion is rapidly approaching. The pavilion has been much admired and has added greatly to the “croquet experience”. It has made the afternoon tea breaks much easier to provide and tidy up. It also provided shade from the sun and shelter from squally showers and high winds. The only drawback has been the reluctance of some members to abandon their cosy chats and comfortable seating to return to the lawns for another game!
Despite the long, hot, dry summer the croquet lawns have stood up well. In fact they have revived extremely well and are looking good. We competed in the West Midland Federation AC, GC and 6+ leagues as well as playing friendlies against a number of other clubs. Our internal competitions are now all complete and the annual awards dinner will take place on the 20th November.
As usual we will be running winter activities to maintain social contact with our members. These include tenpin bowling, a board games afternoon with afternoon tea and a lunch followed by a quiz.
Following the great success of last year’s ceilidh we are having another one this year. The date for your diary is Saturday 21st February.
Membership continues to be strong. This year we have welcomed five new couples to our ranks, all of whom are as keen as mustard. We also ran three sessions for outside groups which generated interest and income for the club.
