Tennis Championships 2025

Firstly, I'd like to say a massive thank you to everyone who took part in this year's Club Championships. Many of you entered knowing that you might not win, but you still joined in to support the club and our thriving tennis section. That spirit is what makes this event so special, and it continues to grow stronger every year.

A full report will be published in the coming week once the last few finals have been completed. In the meantime, you can view this year's Roll of Honour via the link below. Role of Honour 2025

Finals Day was unfortunately hit by rain, and it was a real shame that many of our finalists didn't get the chance to showcase their skills on the big stage. But this is Wales, and the weather is always a challenge. One day, hopefully, we'll have indoor courts to protect these great occasions!

We're already looking forward to next year and hoping for much better luck with the sunshine.

Thank you once again for making the Club Championships such a success.

David Williams

The club would like to send its thanks to David for running such a high quality event over the last 2 months. Despite the challenges of the weather, trophies have been won, presentations made, photos taken and smiles all round.  Full report next month .

Padel

The sport of padel is growing in popularity and The Club’s Board of Directors (BoD) has been exploring the opportunities and challenges of introducing Padel facilities as ST&SC. At the AGM in April, it was agreed to set up a padel working group to investigate further. John Turner recently shared a quotation received from Faveretti, a high end provider, for the supply and installation of two padel courts on an existing tennis court at £160k (including VAT & lights) but without a canopy. On Monday 29 September the “BoD” spent two hours with a group of six Club members to review progress and hear their thoughts. The members had been nominated by those who had signed the call for an EGM a few weeks ago. Three possible options for siting two padel courts, financing options and possible interaction with Sports Wales, City and Council of Swansea and the University were explained. The working party has been reestablished to progress this project and report to the BoD within the next 90 days and is being Chaired by David Seal and includes Ellinore Lightbody, John Turner and Dan Anderson.

Mens Changing Rooms

The changing rooms will be having a long awaited refurbishment in the coming weeks. Further details will follow regarding the impact on members whilst the works are taking place.   S Anderson

 Torquay  Tennis trip

Excellent weekend spent at Torquay club - 17 members traveled south and took part in challenge social matches. No one knows who won but fun was had by all. The weather was stunning on Saturday for tennis matches. Rain and wind on Sunday didn't stop competitive pickle ball, social padel and  table tennis which  along with a little sea paddle completed a very enjoyable weekend .

Thanks to Marc Lloyd Evans for organising, and this event will be repeated again with invitation open to all.
