The 12 Counties Championships

The 12 Counties Championships is a prestigious team competition at Corby Tennis Centre that brings together counties from across the Midlands and surrounding regions. Bedfordshire fields junior teams in both the boys' and girls' events, across the 10U to 18U age groups.

This round-robin style event gives players the chance to compete against strong opposition in a team format, helping them gain valuable match experience and develop their competitive edge.

Players are selected and invited to represent Bedfordshire by the County Team Manager and the respective Team Captains, based on performance, attitude, and commitment throughout the year.

The Lionel Cox Trophy

The Lionel Cox Trophy is a long-standing and popular inter-county team competition for junior players across the East region. It provides a fantastic opportunity for Bedfordshire’s young players to represent their county in a fun, competitive, and supportive team environment.

The event features age groups at 9U, 10U, and 12U, with separate teams for boys and girls. Players are nominated by the County Team Manager and their Team Captains.

Team nominations for the event typically open in early April each year. The finals are currently held at the impressive Wycombe Abbey School in Buckinghamshire, attracting teams from all over the region for an exciting weekend of tennis.

Representing Bedfordshire in the Lionel Cox Trophy is a proud moment for many of our junior players and a key step in their competitive development.
