Hi everyone
On behalf of the Berwick Tennis Club, I’d like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
This week we paid the deposit for the double-court resurfacing so that work is definitely going ahead in the Spring of 2023. We’ll let you know the exact dates as soon as we know ourselves. We need to be rain-free to lay the carpets. Click this link to find out more about the new Matchplay 2 XL courts.
We’re also hoping to have good news about the floodlights and possible resurfacing of court 3 in January. We cannot report anything yet as we are waiting for outcomes to our live planning-permission and funding applications.
Some concerns were raised about the planning application for floodlights but Phil Bevan and Berwick architect James Cromarty are working hard behind the scenes to overcome them and we are hopeful they will be successful.
Although we’re still very much open to funding ideas and donations (not matter how big or small), I’d like to thank Councillor Catherine Seymour and the Community Foundation for their financial contributions.
Talking about fundraising, we’ve got a quiz night lined up in February (more about that later) and of course we have the monthly 50:50 club draw. November’s winners were David Martin and Mark Ringland. Membership only costs £5 per month and the winners share half the monthly prize pot. Contact Sue Nicholson if you are interested.
Once again, have a great festive season … and a great New Year on and off our refurbished courts.
Nick McCreath, Chair, Berwick Tennis Club
