Tennis club member and author Jackie Kaines Lang and friends are launching a cookbook full of deliciously and spicy Sri Lankan recipes this Friday (14 August 2020) at the Mule on Rouge.
'We don't write recipes down' is art food and fun in a super little book – cooked up 100% in Berwick-upon-Tweed and containing all the heat and spice of Sri Lanka.
The meal in a book is a collaboration between writer Jackie Kaines Lang, live illustrator Katie Chappell, graphic designer Daniel Cox and Sri Lankan cook extraordinaire Dewa Morton, who all live in Berwick. The book is also printed in Berwick by Martins.
The book costs £6.99 with £1 from each copy sold being donated to Sri Lankan charity, The Jasmine Foundation.
The charity supports women in rural communities in Sri Lanka through education, training, sports and welfare, as well as health and hygiene initiatives.
Even this brilliant charity has a Berwick connection: Jessica Mason, who co-founded the organisation with husband Sanas Sahib, grew up and went to school in and around Berwick.
To order a copy of the book contact Jackie direct on jax@kaineslang.com or go to the book’s Facebook page.
