We are full steam ahead to complete the first stage of our court improvement programme this Spring, and have paid the deposits to resurface the double courts.
Our new planning permission determination date is next month, the day before our Quiz Night.
We’re also about to sign a new lease with Northumberland County Council. This will open up exciting sponsorship and advertising opportunities for local businesses.
If any members can recommend potential supporters of the club and tennis in the town please do get in touch with me. I am always keen to discuss funding ideas.
One idea, which is alreafy raising £1,000 a year, is our 50:50 Club. The winners in December were Julie Gilmour and Andrew Ayre. Congratulations to both of them.
The club is holding an EGM at the clubhouse on Monday, 6 March at 7pm to agree fees for the start of the new tennis year on 1 April 2023. If you would like to attend please email Andrew at andrewfield3@me.com.
At the EGM we will also be discussing coaching at the club and our plans for encouraging more juniors to start playing tennis.
You can also support the club by attending our fundraising Quiz Night on Saturday, 18 February at Foulden Village Hall.
Tickets for the Quiz Night are £14 per person and include a superb two-course supper. There will also be a raffle and a cash bar (all raffle prize donations will be very welcome). Teams of four, five or six quizzers will compete against each other under the watchful eyes of quizmasters David Martin and Karen Bagley. Even if you are unable to take part on the night, you can still buy tickets and add to our funds.
Please email Sue at suemnicholson25@gmail.com to book a table and advise about any special food requirements. Payment can be made in advance via BACs, or cash on the night.
Many thanks to everyone, especially the committee members doing sterling work behind the scenes.
