On the Sunday 8th June 2025, Brucehaven Tennis Club hosted a free open day for their members and non-members in the local community, and even the weather behaved itself.
The day kicked off with a series of fun events including family tennis, open play and cardio tennis which involved kids and adults of all ages getting in on the action! Refreshments and a delicious barbecue ensured that the players had the energy to spend many hours running around on the courts.
This was followed up with the official opening of the newly refurbished tennis courts by our special guest Alan Russell who is a long-term supporter, member and former head coach at the club. Alan emphasised in his speech the important role the club plays in the community of Limekilns and beyond this was reflected by the number of attendees who came along on the day who were either new to tennis, not been a member of a club before or were just keen to meet others in the local area.
The day concluded with the inaugural open day members tournament which featured many close matches and some great skills on display. In the end, youth prevailed and Adam Urquhart walked away with the prestigious winners trophy. Well done Adam!
A big thank you to Stan Drummond for being a top chef on the day, Yvonne Blyth for running all the activity sessions and the BTC Committee for all the other arrangements leading up to and on the day.
