Cullercoats Lawn Tennis Club held its annual Wimbledon-themed adults doubles tournament last Sunday in glorious sunshine at the coast. Players dressed as Wimbledon players past and present and were given partners according to their fancy dress efforts. Some famous faces appeared such as Lleyton Hewitt, Rafa Nadal, Roger Federer, Anna Kournikova and John Mcenroe and, despite the 1980s hair and tight shorts getting in the way, the eventual finalists were Andy Murray and Serena Williams (Jeff and Helen Thompson) who lost a close match to Pat Cash and Andre Agassi (Phil Herbert and Sam Stevens).
Enter the club tournament (quickly) and you could even get to play one of these ‘legends’!
