Constitution of Keyworth & District Lawn Tennis Club part 2

Competitions

  1. The Committee shall enter teams in the Nottinghamshire Lawn Tennis League, and be responsible for the running of such teams, as directed by the members at the Annual General Meeting.
  2. The Committee shall have the responsibility of recruiting members of the Club to represent it as team members t in any form or competition.
  3. The Committee shall organise internal club competitions provided a sufficient number of members are entered for any such competition.

 

Policies

The Committee will determine a number of important Policies (the "Policies").

These Policies form part of the overall Constitution and Rules of the Cub, which all members are required to read and comply with.

The detailed Policies will be displayed on the website, with edited summaries displayed on the Clubhouse noticeboard.

These Policies will include, but are not restricted to the following topics:

  • Safeguarding
  • Equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Risk assessment
  • Health and safety
  • Privacy and data protection
  • Complaints

 

Right to Play

  1. Current, registered and paid members are able to play on the courts
  2. The following may also play on the courts
  • Guests playing with a member of the Club (this includes guests on social tennis evenings) where appropriate visitor guest fee has been paid
  • Potential members on a trial under supervision of an adult club member
  • Competitors playing in LTA registered events
  • Competitors from other clubs playing in league matches against Keyworth Tennis Club
  • People attending coaching sessions.
  • Others at the discretion of the Committee (including but not limited to participants under LTA Places to Play, schools, parties, Family days and Open days)

 

 

 

Coaching

Paid coaches must be LTA accredited and have been checked with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Use of the Facilities

All events at the Club, both tennis and social, must be approved by the Committee.

Rules of the Club

 

General Rules

  1. Only members, guests and visitors are entitled to use the club facilities.
  2. Potential members and attendees at coaching sessions may use the club facilities at the Committee’s discretion
  3. Playing guests and visitors must pay the appropriate fee, either to the accompanying member or in the fee box at the door to the courts, before playing
  4. All members, their guest and visitors should conduct themselves with consideration of others, both within the club and neighbours of the club, so as not to cause nuisance, annoyance or offence. Members are responsible for the behaviour of their guests.
  5. No member may introduce more than 3 guests in any period of 24 hours, unless otherwise approved by the Committee on application in advance
  6. No person under the age of 10 may use the courts or club facilities unless under the close supervision of an adult who is responsible for the child. The club will take no responsibility for any child (being under the age of 18) left unattended at the courts
  7. The club and all the facilities must be treated with respect and left in a clean and tidy condition after use.
  8. The front door should be kept locked from the inside at all times to prevent entry by unauthorised persons. The court door and side gate must be locked by the last person leaving the club premises.
  9. The heaters must be turned off by the last person leaving the club premises.
  10. Only adult members are permitted to use the kitchen equipment and appliances, which must be cleaned, turned off and tidied after use.
  11. Children and dogs are not allowed on the grounds or in the clubhouse unless under the supervision of a responsible adult.
  12. Members, guests and visitors are responsible for your own their own safety while at the club. The club accepts no responsibility for loss or injuries. All accidents or injuries should be recorded, on the day of the incident, in the Accident Book kept in the clubhouse
  13. The Committee may suspend a member who, in the Committee’s opinion, has repeatedly or flagrantly failed to comply with any of these rules. The suspension can be time-limited or indefinite at the Committee’s discretion. The suspended member can appeal to an Annual General Meeting or Extraordinary General Meeting.
  14. The clubhouse is open for use by members, visitors and guests at the discretion of and at such times as the Committee shall decide between the hours of 9am and 11pm daily and on occasions at such later times as may be determined by the Committee
  15. . Smoking is not allowed on any part of the Club facilities, including the Courts and the clubhouse.

 

Court Rules

  1. Players should comply with the principles of Respect and Fair Play, both on and off the Courts.
  2. Nobody is allowed on the Courts unless they are playing, umpiring or coaching tennis.
  3. Tennis balls will be provided for Club sessions, tournaments and matches, and must be returned to the clubhouse.
  4. Tennis balls are also available in the blue box in the clubhouse for general use. They should be returned to the box after use.
  5. Play must only take place when conditions are safe to do so. Do not play when courts are slippery due to wetness or ice, when thunderstorms are around. Take precautions in hot sun
  6. The nets should be wound down slightly after use to reduce the tension.
  7. Players should ensure that their clothing and equipment is safe and appropriate for use
  8. Rubber soled shoes must be worn by all players when on court.
  9. The courts should be left tidy and clear of all personal possession as well as any ball -cans ring-pulls and other litter.
  10. The floodlights must be switched off by the last person using them on the courts. The floodlights must not be used beyond 10pm
  11. Children are not allowed on the courts unless they are playing tennis.
  12. Court allocations will be given the following priority order:
  • Club matches
  • Club tournaments
  • Club group coaching
  • Private members play
