Following the Hampshire Tennis awards on 10th May, the club will be hostiing a whole-club social event on Sunday 18th May at the courts in Newman Collard park with a social mixer from 10am, BBQ from midday and Family Cup and Team Challenge tournaments from 1pm.

Adult Social Mixer
- Starts at: 10am
- Aimed at: Adults - all abilities and older yellow ball juniors
- Description: These are round-robin style tournaments suitable for all abilities and designed to give everyone a chance of winning.The format is for doubles pairs and scores are kept from each session with the top three scores for each participant with the best-score of the day deciding the overall winner. The format is great fun and rules are fully explained on each day of the competitions. These mixers are highly sociable occasions offering a great opportunity to meet other club members.
Family Cup
- Starts at: 1pm
- Aimed at: Red ball juniors (5-8) + an adult or older sibling
- Description: These are fun, friendly tournaments aimed at younger red/orange ball players. They are a chance to play doubles with an adult relative or family member in a fun and informal tournament. The tournament is usually organised by age/ability (eg red ball, orange ball, etc) so as to be suitable the junior particpants . For younger juniors, matches are played on smaller courts with mini-nets. Matches are timed and played in round robin format, with all points counting towards a tally for the day.
The tournament is very flexible and can last between 1 or up to 2 hours depending on numbers, energy and enthusiasm
Team Challenge
- Starts at: 1pm
- Aimed at: Adults and orange ball juniors (8+)
- Description: The Team Challenge format allows players of all standards to play in a competitive environment. It's an ideal first tournament for orange ball juniors and adult beginners. The competiton is not about winning at all cost and is ideal for juniors and adult players of all abilities. It is about enjoying the challenge of playing games and putting skills into practice, in a fun, social, and team environment.
Players are organised into balanced teams of between 3-5 players depending on numbers (eg one young junior, one older junior, + 2-3 adults per team) who then compete in a doubles round robin format with players rotating in and out so that all players are involved. The advantage of rotation is that everyone in the team is involved. There is usally a prize for the winning time and prizes for the younger juniors.
BBQ
- Starts at: Midday onwards
- Aimed at: All including friends and supporters
