12 Counties

The 12 Counties competition takes place from September to March each year at Corby Tennis Centre. The competition consists of 4 singles matches that are short sets with each player playing x3 matches against different counties. Currently, Nottinghamshire is in Division 2B with Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire.

We select our team based on:

1. The top 3 players based on rating first. However, the player must be in the top 10 of players on ranking when selection is made to ensure they are competing regularly.

2. If the rating of players is equal then we choose the next best players based on ranking

3. The 4th place can either be based on the above criteria or a wildcard pick from the age group captain.

For the 9u category, the process is slightly different. The team is made up of 4 players with a minimum of 1 girl.

The criteria are:

1. The top 3 players based on rating first. However, the player must be in the top 10 of players on ranking when selection is made to ensure they are competing.

2. If the rating of players is equal then we choose the next best players based on recent form. Recent form is defined as the competition results over the last 3 months.

3.  The 4th place can either be based on the above criteria or a wildcard pick from the age group captain. If the top 3 players are male, then the 4th place will be a female.

Emails will go out to players around a month before the competition to gauge availability.
