LTA County Cup

LTA County Cup consists of competitions that run from February to August across the country. Each age group competes in singles and doubles against 3 counties across a weekend with all the groups across the country taking part on the same weekend. The winner of each group across the country then qualifies for the national finals that are held on a separate weekend.

Nottinghamshire Tennis finished =11th on the 2019 County Leaderboard nationally, an increase of 22 places in the country that was recognised in the county winning the Most Improved County Award 2019. The link below takes you to the County Cup Race and explains which events count towards the award.

For 2020 County Cup events, rankings will be used to decide the order for players during the competition and so we will pick our team using rankings.

We still include wildcard/s for each event as we recognise players might have not been competing due to unforeseen circumstances (eg injury etc).

The number of players varies for each event and therefore the number we select based on ranking varies. Details of how many players of each event and how we select are shown below.

Selection for the event does not guarantee selection each day. It is likely that we will take more players than needed for the number of matches played, each day the captain will select the team they believe is most likely to compete on the day. The selection of players is based on their game style, willingness to compete for the team, competency at singles or doubles and matchups with opponents (amongst other factors)

The dates for 2020 are shown below, with information on how we will most likely select the team. Emails will go out to players around a month before the competition to gauge availability.
