Rules on the use of Wadebridge Tennis Club Courts

‘We are all responsible for making tennis enjoyable, fun and safe’.

The following rules are designed to ensure fairness and allow all members to enjoy the club’s facilities.

If floodlights are required, this is currently charged as an extra at £3 per half hour. (lights will turn off at 10pm) Tokens are available from Spar Stores opposite the Tennis Courts (Guide to their use is on the Court Booking page)

Court Usage

  • Member court use is only available for free when playing with other Club Members, with a 10-day advance booking window.There is also a Pay and Play option for Non-Members with a 5-day advance booking window.

  • Invited Juniors Members under the age of 18 may play at club sessions (16+) and in tournaments.

  • Children under 13 years may only use the courts if supervised by an adult Parents/guardian  - please read Supervision of Under 18’s. Below

  • To keep our facilities in good condition, Please do not bring bikes, scooters, skateboards, footballs, etc. (chewing gum or glass) onto the courts. Remove all rubbish.

  • Court time MUST be booked using the LTA/Clubspark Booking Sheet. NO Roll Up play is permitted, pre-book your court. You are asked to wait for players to leave the courts before entering if using the same courts.

  • If after booking you find that you are no longer able to play, please cancel your booking so that others may use the courts.

  • If anyone has not claimed their court within 10 minutes of the start time they could forfeit their court booking.

  • All booked players should have confirmation on their phone or a copy of their booking.

  • Players must re-lock the entrance gate when on-court playing and only open for their OWN entry and exit, to prevent unauthorised entry, make sure the court gates are closed and secure especially if you are last to leave the cours.

  • Players are expected to maintain standards of behavior appropriate to an environment in which both adult and junior members may be present.

  • Please do not allow balls to constantly stray onto other courts and interrupt the enjoyment of other court users, wait for balls to be returned and not run across other courts to retrieve them.

  • When wet or frosty, the courts and lines become slippery. Please take this into consideration when deciding to play. Use of the courts is at your discretion and Wadebridge Tennis Club takes no responsibility for injuries or loss sustained while you are using the courts.

Court Dress

  • Non marking tennis shoes only. No cross trainers as they tear the court surface.

  • Appropriate clothing to suit conditions Players to wear a shirt at all times.

Membership Identity

  • Membership is monitored via the Online Booking System which is an extremely effective method of checking members and guests playing on our courts.

  • Names of all participants should be added to bookings so membership may be checked.

  • Each participant should be marked as either Member or Guest.

Guests & Fees

  • Members may play with a non-member subject to paying a £5 guest fee. (See How to Book)

  • A non member receiving individual coaching should pay a guest fee to the coach and after six sessions should become a member of the club.

Coaching

  • Only coaches from our Club are permitted to coach individuals at the club.

  • A non member receiving individual coaching should pay a guest fee to the coach and after six sessions should become a member of the club.

  • A non member attending group coaching should after the initial six sessions become a member.

Clubhouse

  • Access is by Key Code to restricted members who are responsible for the safety and security of the Clubhouse.

  • Juniors should be supervised by an appropriate Adult Member/Coach.

  • Clubhouse door should be secured if no member is present, door should not be allowed to swing in the wind.

 

CCTV is in operation at this site for the purpose of security and safeguarding.

This list is not exhaustive and may be added to or amended as required.

 

If any member considers that any of the above rules are being contravened please inform a member of the committee.

 

Supervision of Under 18s whilst using Wadebridge Tennis Club Courts

Safeguarding our members is very important to Wadebridge Tennis Club We have revised our guidance for Under 18s not attending coach led sessions in line with current LTA advice.

  • Parents/guardians are encouraged to regularly check the Online Booking Sheet to see who their child is playing with.

1.  Junior members under the age of 13 playing on the club’s courts must be supervised by a parent/guardian.

  • The court booking should be made by the parent/guardian on behalf of the junior specifying the names of all participants, stating whether member or guest.

2. Junior members between the ages of 13-17 playing each other on the club’s courts may be unsupervised, if the parent/guardian feels that is appropriate for their child.

  • To ensure consent is given, the court booking should be made by one of the parents/guardians on behalf of the juniors specifying the names of all participants, stating whether member or guest.

  • Junior members over 16: may have their own ClubSpark account to make court bookings, parents should email the club to give consent and supply the child’s email address. Any booking made by a junior member must specify the names of all participants.

3. Junior members between the ages of 13-17 playing with an adult member who is outside their immediate family.

  • To ensure consent is given, the court booking should be made by the parent/guardian of the junior member specifying the names of all participants.

4. Junior members between the ages of 13-17 wishing and invited to play in club organised social tennis events, club organised competitions or league fixtures.

5. Under 18 Guests

  • Parent/guardian and junior member are responsible for guests. Guest Fees should be paid at time of Booking.
