Wooler Tennis Club Chairman’s Report 2026

Wooler Tennis Club

Chairman’s Report 2026

Wooler Tennis Club has had another successful year and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the 2025 WTC Committee for their support.

The Committee has ensured the Club achieved its Aims & Objectives over the past year by encouraging new members, repainting the courts, continuing with the maintenance programme, painting of the clubhouse, tidy-up days, arranging  coaching, fundraising and organizing Open Days. The main focus for the coming year is again to increase membership.

The Club has continued with Club Nights, one evening per month during the winter at No One Hotel which has proved popular. At the beginning of this year the Club introduced Pickleball at the Glendale School Gym one night per week which has been very successful. Due to its popularity the Club may increase play, possibly a Saturday morning during the winter. We raised funds with a successful Creep Fit & Quiz Night, a big Thank You to Noel for hosting the event. The Open Days were a great success attracting new members with everyone enjoying a delicious tea provided by the committee

The Club was invited to play a friendly game at Alnwick Tennis Club during the summer with the view to arrange more matches in the coming season

Financially the club is in a secure position and will continue to look at ways in which to raise funds for future maintenance and activities. This requires not only a strong and supportive Committee which we have, but requires the support of Wooler Tennis Club Members throughout the year. Being a small rural club presents many challenges. One of the difficulties the Club faces this year is finding a new coach as Phil has now retired from coaching. We are actively seeking a qualified affiliated LTA coach for the upcoming season.

If you have any questions regarding the Club please come along to the AGM at No. One Hotel ,Wooler ,Thursday 26th March 7.00pm .

Hope to see you on 26th March

Linda
