Bagley family Tennis Borders Adult Confined successes!

Congratulations to Berwick club member Hannah Bagley (pictured right),  who won the Tennis Borders Adult Confined 2021 ladies tournament over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Hannah beat Claire Townsend 6-4, 6-0 at the Melrose tennis club, one of three finals she contested on a scorching hot day. This was the second women's final won by Hannah in recent weeks. She also won the East Lothian Open Women's Singles Handicap when she beat Dawn Laidlaw 6-1 6-3.

She was runner-up in the women’s doubles final with sister Jessica (left), losing in straight sets to Lisa Campbell and Juliet Smith.  In the mixed-doubles, she and her partner Lachlan Ferguson were beaten by the closest of margins to Matthew Stout and Rosemary Anderson, 3-6, 7-6, 7-10.

Her mum Karen (middle) competed in the Consolation final, narrowly losing on a championship tie-break to Alison Moore, 3-6, 6-1, 5-10.

Karen Bagley said: “There was some great tennis played and some very close matches. Hannah played in three finals in one day. The tournament is lots of fun so it would be great to see more members joining me, David, Hannah and Jessica next year.”

Karen is busy organising The Jack Dudgeon mixed-doubles open tournament, which takes place on Sunday, 12 September 2021 at Berwick tennis club.
