Established in the 1920s the club has a long history in Harrogate. It is registered as a Community Amateur Sporting Club (CASC) and is operated by and for its members, with all profits reinvested. Following incorporation on the 1st April 2021 the club is now Harrogate Racquets Club Limited. The company number is 13144908 and is registered to Firs Road, Harrogate, HG2 8HA.
The club is situated in a residential cul-de-sac off Leeds Road on the South side of Harrogate, opposite the Oatlands Marks & Spencers. The club has dedicated facilities for tennis outdoors and for badminton and table tennis both indoors, plus a welcoming clubhouse. The facilities are open every day of the week between 8am and 10pm.
Badminton members have access to three dedicated courts that have sprung wooden floors and the hall benefits from a vaulted ceiling.
Table tennis members have two arenas that can be sectioned off and then divided further depending on use (social/coaching/match). There is also a balcony for spectators.
Tennis members have access to four artificial grass courts, three of which are floodlit until 10pm.
Clubhouse facilities are available to all members and include a Rijo coffee machine, licenced bar, water fountain, vending machine and changing rooms for families, men and ladies. There is also a kitchen that is used to cater for social and sporting events that are held at the club.
Grounds around the club provide sixteen floodlit car parking spaces plus a disabled space. Disabled access is available for the tables tennis facilities.
Members of all playing ability are welcome and the club offers organised activities such as social play, entry to leagues for match play and coaching. Plus, courts can be booked online by members for general play.
Coaching provision is available across all sports and each of the coaches working at the club is accredited to their respective governing body. As well as providing private coaching for members to develop and advance their playing skills, the coaches also deliver the highly regarded junior coaching programmes across badminton, table tennis and tennis.
