Tennis coaching
Summer junior coaching
A 3 week programme of tennis junior coaching is being planned for the weeks commencing the 10th, 17th and 24th August. Keep an eye out for the email from our head coach that will be sent from ClubSpark.
Termly junior coaching programmes
Our junior tennis courses run in three termly blocks, Autumn, Spring & Summer and are designed to gradually progress your child through our tennis pathway. You can join at any time by clicking on the courses available, or click here and a member of the team will get back to you shortly. Why not come along and give it a try.
Whilst our courses focus on tennis through technical coaching, innovative drills and fun games. We also teach multi-skills in our coaching squads to improve fitness and hand-eye co-ordination.
Participation in our coaching programme is for members only.
Groups are as follows
Mini Red - ages 5-9 years
Mini Red is designed for children aged 8/9&Under. It is played by using softer, slower balls, shorter racquets and a shorter court. Designed for children to have fun while developing longer rallies and experimenting with different types of shots. It is just like the full game, but a tiny version!
Mini Orange - 8-11 years
Mini Orange players continue their tennis development at age 8-10 years. Similar to Mini Red, it is played with shorter rackets and slower balls. However, Mini Orange is played on a larger tennis court. Orange encourages fun and friendly competition and develops tennis techniques & tactics.
Mini Green - 11+ years
Mini Green is the last step of the Mini Tennis progressions before players move onto full compression tennis balls and full scoring systems. This stage focuses on advanced techniques and tactics.
Junior Development 14-18 years
Our junior tennis groups are for players who can rally comfortably with a partner within their group. Players will learn the full spectrun of shots, court tactics and will have friendly competitive play with like minded teenagers.
Performance Squads
Performance squads are designed for players who have been identified as strong and competent and who are keen to play more. The squads will focus on implementing tactics in preparation for competition as well as personal feedback on your child's technique and movement on court. With smaller groups the squad sessions provide more rally and point scoring opportunities. We would expect players within these squads to do at least two sessions per week.
Performance squads run for Orange, Green and Full ball sessions.
It is important that your child is in the correct group and ask all newcombers to the club to contact us to discuss your child before booking them on to a new course.
Matchplay
This is for children to experience the whole game in a fun, informal atmosphere and is invaluable for their tennis journey.
LTA Graded Tournaments
These are official LTA tournaments allowing competition against juniors from local, county and regional levels. They are external and open to all, allowing you to develop your LTA rating and ranking.
Junior Leaders
As children progress we provide the opportunity for them to become tennis assistants and tennis leaders. This is a great experience for them if they are interetsed in developing leadership and life skills.
