Membership - the details

It is great news that you are thinking about joining Harrogate Racquets Club. Before you apply for membership how about coming for a look around ? Please feel free to get in touch with the membership secretary who can arrange to meet with you to show you around our facilities.

To help with your decision making we have summarised below some of the key features about the options for membership.

What is on offer?

We offer badminton, table tennis and tennis and the following range of membership packages. If you play multiple sports then our all sport membership package may be of interest as it permits access to badminton, table tennis and tennis.

Peak membership – access 7 days a week between 8am and 10pm

Off Peak membership – access Monday to Friday between 8am and 4pm

Junior membership – for 1 junior (aged under 18 on the 1st April and still in full time education)

Student membership – for 1 student in full time education with an NUS card or equivalent

How membership works

All membership is based on a date of purchase for a period of 12 months. An additional fee is charged for new members - but the renewal price is available after the first 12 months. Payments can be made in full or by instalments payable monthly over a 12 month period subject to terms and conditions. Please note instalments are not available for junior and student memberships.  

If you choose the monthly instalment approach and subsequently lapse your membership (or opt-out or default on a payment) then we reserve the right to terminate your membership with immediate effect and you would not be eligible to re-apply for membership for a further 12 month period from the date of your last payment without the executive committee granting special dispensation.

Unfortunately, in the interest of treating all members consistently and fairly, we are not able to offer a refund on unused part-year membership fees without the executive committee granting special dispensation.

How to apply for membership

You can apply for membership through our website, click on ‘Membership’ on the main list of headers and a list of the available membership packages will be shown. Select the membership package you would like to join and click on the join tab. You will be asked to register with ClubSpark if you do not already have a login profile for Harrogate Racquets Club and then follow the prompts. Payment is made via the webiste.

What happens after you have applied for membership

Notification of your application will be sent to the membership secretary. As soon as possible and after we have received notification of your payment arrangements, you will receive a welcome letter and medical declaration form by email. In this email you will be offered dates to meet up with the membership secretary in order to introduce you to the club and arrange your access. 

Please note: that the club is mainly run by volunteers who manage their club responsibilities alongside work and family commitments. As a result it may take a few days days from application to receiving your welcome email.
