Floodlights
All three of the full size courts have floodlights that can be used to play after dark, either through the use of tokens for courts 1 and 2, or through electronic Clubspark booking for court 3. Court 3 is also now available to the public via pay and play. These were recently upgraded from the older style halogen bulbs to LED technology and so operate slightly differently.
Courts 1 & 2
The lights for these two courts are controlled through the use of tokens, which can be purchased for £2:00/half-hour from Gwilym Rowlands, Richard Braithwaite or Jim Cornell. Please contact membership@linsladetennisclub.org.uk for more detail.
How to use the floodlights
- Place your token into the appropriate court meter slot (court 1 is the top one of the two).
- Each token lasts 30 minutes.
- Multiple tokens can be inserted at once and will display the total number of minutes.
- The lights are now LED and so will come on immediately at full brightness. They also no longer have a "strike" period and can be turned back on immediately after being turned off.
- The number of remaining minutes/seconds will be displayed on the digital display, and will count down to zero.
Curfew
We have a strict curfew time to abide to our planning conditions and to reduce our impact on our neighbours. This means:
- The floodlights must be off by the latest of 22:00 on Monday to Friday
- The floodlights must be off by the latest of 19:00 on Saturday and Sunday
- The mini court must not be used after 19:00 on any day
Please bear the above in mind when booking courts and inserting tokens into the meter.
Court 3
The lights for this court are linked into the Clubspark booking system and are configured to come on automatically for bookings after dark. The lights will now start 5 minutes (previously 15) before the booking and stay on for 5 minutes after the booking ends. The system knows when there are continous bookings and so will keep the lights on as necessary.
The time for when it is considered lights are needed, will move as the year progresses. The way to determine when lights are configured, is to look at the court booking price. For members, court booking is normally free and will increase to £2:00 / half-hour when the lights are included. For non-members they should see the half-hour slot price increase from the day time £3:00 rate to £5:00.
To make a booking when the schedule includes lights, Clubspark will request credit/debit card payment to cover the total calculated price.
Should it be necessary to cancel the court, including for changes in the weather, then you should cancel the booking from either this site, or the Rally site, depending on where the court was originally booked. This can be done up to 2 hours before the booking, after which payment is non-refundable. Any cancellation refunds prior to this limit are paid back to the original credit/debit card.
