NORTHUMBERLAND LADIES’ COUNTY TEAM RETAIN GROUP 1 STATUS

The Northumberland Ladies County Team travelled to Eastbourne to compete in Group 1 of County Week from 24th to 28nd July. They maintained their Group 1 position for County Week in 2024 by coming fourth in the Group.

The week got off to an excellent start for Northumberland Ladies on Monday with a 6-3 win against Leicestershire. This was followed up on Tuesday with an 8-2 win, this time against Nottinghamshire. Wednesday saw a very close encounter against Surrey which was lost 4-5 and Thursday saw a 4-5 loss against Hampshire & Isle of Wight.

Friday saw the team playing against Hertfordshire, the Group winners, and at 0-3 down the Ladies called it a day as other results meant their position in Group 1 for next year was secure.

This was once again a tremendous achievement for a team who were competing against counties with a much larger player base and strong histories of success at County week.

The Team were: Amy Hoburn (Team Captain), Steph Booth, Jess Hart, Lauren Jones, Abby Kelliher, Gillian Kelliher, Aimee Knowles, Teodora Prisadnikova, Alex Walker and Emma Wilson.
