Promoting Tennis Competitions in Berkshire
If your venue is hosting an LTA sanctioned event open to the wider Berkshire community you can either tag our relevant account in the social media post or send us the information and graphic to our inbox and we will share it on our channels.
Support the players at your venue to compete in local Grade 4 & Grade 5 competitions by signposting them to the Regional One-Day Competition Calendars .
These handy calendars are organised by age group and gender, making it easy for players to discover competitions in their community.
Let's help them find the perfect opportunity to showcase their skills and compete!

Parents of Players New to Competition
Did you know the LTA have a great resource which aims to help guide parents of children who have recently started competing?
It's particularly useful if you do not have a tennis background yourself and want to get a better idea of how to enter your child into competitions, what the competition structure is all about and what to expect at the tournaments.

Parent Support Programme
What can you do to support your child playing tennis?
Parents play a key role in sport and kids need their support and encouragement. The LTA work closely with sports psychology experts from Loughborough University and the University of Roehampton to offer help – what we call the Parent Support Programme.
The Parent Support Programme is made up of three parts:
- Stage One: Start Competing Guide
- Stage Two: Competition Parenting Workshops
- Stage Three: Mental and Emotional Skills Guide
Visit the Parents Education section of the LTA website and there are links that take you to the various existing videos and upcoming online workshops and webinars
LTA Youth Compete
Whatever time of year it is there are junior tennis competitions taking place across the UK for children of all ages and abilities.
The LTA has three main focuses for helping you make the most out of competing in junior tennis:
- Team Challenge - a great way to introduce kids to tennis competitions at their local clubs; fun, friendly, and no serious scoring with the benefits of team socialising
- Matchplay - perfect for your first individual competition, or getting some extra match practice in
- Local Tour - the quick-scoring junior tennis tournament
Whatever your level, we’re here to help you start competing in junior tennis tournaments at your own pace.
For further information about the three different categories, please click HERE to be directed to the LTA website.
Get kids into tennis with the LTA Youth Start Programme
Never held a racket? No problem! Specially trained LTA Youth coaches will adapt to each individual, to help bring out their best in a safe, secure environment. All kids need to bring is their creative energy, because the programme is designed to grow as they do. Smaller courts and softer balls develop into the real deal as they pick up all the skills and know-how they need.
There are courses for children aged 4-11, packed full of fun games and dynamic training. We want kids to bring all their energy to tennis; no 'quiet please' needed here.
The £29.99 (+£5 P&P) programme cost gets you:
- Six top-class tennis sessions with specially trained coaches
- A tennis racket and set of balls
- A branded t-shirt
- Activity cards, a lanyard, stickers and a certificate (provided by the coach)
Click HERE to be directed to the LTA site where you can search and book a course near you!
Fair play
Fair Play is an essential value in our sport – whether you’re a player, coach or parent. We want to make sure that tennis is played in a fair, open and inclusive nature at all levels, so everyone feels welcome on court.
Fair Play involves:
- Good sportsmanship, honesty and respect whether you win or lose
- Learning to challenge yourself and improve social skills
- Taking responsibility for your actions, calling scores and lines clearly and fairly even if it costs you the point
- Learning and following the rules and being a role model to younger people
- Enjoyment of the sport
