LTA Extreme Heath Policy

The LTA take the safety and well being of players, spectators and officials extremely seriously.  The LTA has introduced an Extreme Heat Policy in addition to the Adverse Weather Policy to provide guidance to players and tournament officials during a heat wave. This new policy is inline with those of the ITF, WTA and other leading federations.

Fair Play

Fair Play is an essential value in our sport – whether you’re a player, coach or parent.  We want to make sure that tennis is played in a fair, open and inclusive nature at all levels, so everyone feels welcome on court.

Fair Play involves:

  • Good sportsmanship, honesty and respect whether you win or lose
  • Learning to challenge yourself and improve social skills
  • Taking responsibility for your actions, calling scores and lines clearly and fairly even if it costs you the point
  • Learning and following the rules and being a role model to younger people
  • Enjoyment of the sport

ITF World Tennis Number and Playing Orders - Clarification

  • A player's LTA Rating is now completely irrelevant. As per the rules the team playing order is simply done on a player's current singles ITF World Tennis Number (for 11U-Open)
  • If a player does not have a singles ITF World Tennis Number, they will need to play below any players that do have a singles ITF World Tennis Number. Once they have competed in singles match they will then be allocated a World Tennis Number. Any players that believe they should have a singles ITF World Tennis Number, but don’t, will need to log this with the LTA  Customer Support Team (response time is currently 3 working days).   However, if on match day a player does not have a singles WTN, they would need to play below any other players that do (irrelevant of what their LTA Rating is/was)
  • Team Captains can find players ITF World Tennis Numbers here - Players | LTA - Tennis for Britain

LTA SAFEGUARDING GUIDELINES FOR LEAGUE MATCHES

Irrespective of representing their school, club, county, region or country, when playing tennis away from home, planning is required to ensure risks are properly assessed and mitigated ensuring that all children are safe when participating in tennis.

This guidance is aimed at teams with children (anyone under 18) travelling for away matches and it provides a ‘one stop’ shop for organisers and supervisors accompanying the team to meet safeguarding standards. It is intended to supplement the more detailed LTA Safeguarding at Trips, Events and Competitions Policy.

At a league or county match, the hosting club is responsible for the safeguarding plan and risk assessment of the event they are running. The visiting club/county/school will be responsible for the safeguarding plan and risk assessment around their involvement in said event.
