Berkshire Junior County Championships 2024 (Centenary Year)

It was the 100 year Centenary for the Berkshire Junior County Championships this year and it was celebrated on court with lots of great matches over six days.

We had over 140 entries for the 18 events that took place (18U GS & GD cancelled due to low numbers) and it was exciting to see so many new players reaching the finals, as well as some players able to defend their titles. Play took place on the outside clay courts at Bradfield for the majority of the events with the weather staying warm for spectators until the last day. The 9U and 8U events took place indoors and players were supported on court by teenage assistants from Bradfield TC and Crowthorne TC.

A special thanks to the team at Bradfield for hosting and running the County Championships, and for keeping the clay courts watered and smooth. Congratulations to all players that took part who showcased the amazing talent we have in the county across the age groups.

Here are just some of the highlights from the JCC

Oliver D retained the 18U BD and BS titles with a new partner in the Doubles (Christian R)
Matty B took the 16U BS title, adding to his 14U BS title in 2023.
Jaiden M took the 14U BS title from a draw of 25 players, improving on his Runner-Up placing in 2023. He also won the 14U BD with Finley B
Nishta K and Isabella BC faced each other in the 14U GS and 16U GS Finals with Nishta taking the 14U title and Isabella the 16U title. They met again in the 14U GD when Isabella and Prisha M beat Nishta and Aanya P.
Isabella G took the 11U GS title, adding to her 10U BS title in 2023.
Ethan BC had a confident run to win the 11U BS title.
Daisy T impressed all by winning both the 10U GS and 9U GS titles with the events taking place on clay and indoor courts respectively. She had won the 8U GS in 2023.
Siadon C took the 9U BS title, adding to his 8U BS title in 2023.
