The Latest from Berkshire Junior Teams

Berkshire Junior County Teams Update | 3/4th May 2025

It was a busy weeked for Berkshire teams, with 8 teams taking part in County Cup and Lionel Cox matches across the country! Here's a round up of how the weekend went for the teams.

14U County Cup

The girls and boys Berkshire Teams took part in 14U County Cup last weekend, playing brilliant tennis out on the courts of Halton (girls) and North Oxford (boys).

The girls were playing against some very tough opposition (Kent, Avon, Herts, Bucks and Hampshire & IoW) in group 1A, with the winning team then going on to the National Finals in Nottingham. Each player fought incredibly hard in every match, and they should be very proud of their performances over the weekend. Berkshire girls finished 5th in the groups overall.

The boys were in group 2E where they played against Norfolk, Oxfordshire, Bucks, Herts and Suffolk. With some very close matches and superb teamwork on show, they finished in 4th place overall.

Every player showed superb grit, determination and team spirit, supporting each other vocally in every match. Lots of match experience gained, and lots to keep striving for - everyone should be very proud of how they performed.

We hope everyone enjoyed their County Cup experience. We know how important it is for players to have the experience of playing for their counties, but what's most important is the memories and friendships made. County Cup is about so much more than just the tennis.

Thank you to the captains and parents for your unwavering support of the players.

Team Berkshire at Lionel Cox 2025

The 9U, 10U and 12U boys and girls teams were playing over in Cambridge and Wycombe, with lots of brilliant matches and superb team work on display. The finishing positions for each age group team were as follows:

- 12U girls: Runners-up

- 12U boys: 6th

- 10U girls: 3rd

- 10U boys: 4th

- 9U girls: 8th

- 9U boys: Winners

The players should be very proud of how they represented the county - not only for woking hard on court, but for their attitude off court too - supporting and bonding with fellow teammates, and showing great respect to everyone around them.

We know that these county team events can be intense, and we thank parents, supporters and captains for everything they do for the players on and off the court. Hopefully friendships and bonds were strengthened and lots of tennis memoris were made.

Well done again to everyone, keep enjoying your tennis and we look forward to the next county team event!
