Venue, Workforce & Programme Development Grants 2026-27
Berkshire Tennis is committed to supporting our local tennis community. We offer grants to help small and medium-sized clubs improve their facilities, develop their coaching staff, and grow participation across the county.
1. Facility & Equipment Grants (50% Funding)
We provide match-funding of 50% (up to a maximum of £500) for eligible tennis venues. This can be used for:
- Clubhouse Improvements: Refurbishment, extensions, decoration, or new furniture.
- Equipment: New tennis equipment for the club.
- Court & Ground Works: General refurbishments, new signage, or improvements to disability access.
- Please note: Certain exclusions apply.
2. Programme Development Grants
These grants are designed to help clubs launch new initiatives and reach new players.
Girls' Tennis: Funding for new activities specifically designed to attract and retain female players in age-appropriate squads.
Community Events (£250 Grant): A fixed grant of £250 is available for any LTA-registered Berkshire venue that organises:
- Sessions for Brownies.
- A "girls-only" free festival day.
- A Tennis Leaders course led primarily by female coaches.
3. Coaching & Officials Education Grants
We want to invest in the people who make tennis happen. Funding is available for workforce education at all levels.
Standard Grant: We cover 1/3 of the course cost. The remaining 2/3 must be covered by the candidate and/or their club.
Enhanced Grant (50% Funding): We offer a higher funding rate of 50% for LTA Assistant (Level 1) coaches who meet any of the following criteria:
- Female (aged 16+).
- Young males currently in county training.
- Applicants focusing on EDI (Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion), including ethnicity and disability.
Terms and Conditions for Education Grants:
- Affiliation: You must be officially linked to a Berkshire tennis/padel venue or coaching programme.
- Timing: You must submit your grant application before your course starts.
- Payment: Grants are paid via BACS after you have successfully completed the course. You will need to pay for the course upfront and then claim the grant back by providing proof of completion and your bank details.
- Commitment (Level 3+): If you receive a grant for a Level 3 qualification or higher, you are expected to continue working within Berkshire for at least two years. If you leave the county before then, you will be required to pay back 50% of the grant.
