Manning Davenport Award

 

The Manning Davenport Trust Fund was set up in 1986 to help young tennis players in Berkshire.  Each year one boy and one girl are selected  to receive the award and this year the awards go to  Alexander Okonkwo and Lily Doherty - Congrutulations!  


Lily Doherty:  A brief resume of her recent tennis achievements and aspirations.

County

Lily has attended Berkshire County Training and has competed with the Berkshire Team over the last five years in the 9U, 10U, 12U & 14U age-groups. Lily is ranked Number 1 on the 12U County Leaderboard and at the recent County Closed Competition, Lily won the 12U & 14U Singles Events and 14U Doubles Event. 

Regional

Lily is ranked Number 3 in the Region and is one of the few players in the Region to be selected for the LTA Regional Pathway.  Lily attends weekly Regional Training led by the Regional and National Coaches and competes on behalf of the East Region. Lily regularly competes in 12U, 14U and 16U Regional Competitions and has won Grade 3 events in all three age-groups.

 National

Lily’s 12U National Ranking is 17 and she recently qualified to play singles and doubles at the Grade 1 Summer Junior National Finals, reaching the semi-final in the doubles. Lily regularly competes in 12U Grade 2 competitions with the aim of building high-quality match experience and qualifying for the Grade 1 National Competitions. 

International

Lily is starting to compete in Tennis Europe competitions, having had a successful start in May. Lily is keen to continue to train hard and to compete at the highest level. She would love to be selected to play with the National Team for Team GB, as well as continuing to be successful in her own National and International competitions.
