CAR PARKING:  With our increased membership and court use, we need to try and fit more cars into our car park.  We are asking for everyone to please park as above and use both entrances: we should then be able to fit 16 cars in.

Please also put the chain across the entrance after you come in to discourage the footballers using our car park.  We would also ask that you walk or cycle wherever possible.  Thank you for your help.

NEW CLUB GUIDELINES:  You can find the full club guidelines under a previous Club news which includes a link to the LTA website with all the detail.  Please make sure you take the time to read these but here is a summary of what is changing at our club:

  • Club socials are still not allowed so groups of four players must still be prearranged.  However one swap with one other court is permitted so that no one plays with more than 5 other players.  We have a main club group chat with approximately 60 members at social level, purely for arranging play.   If you would like to be added to this, please let Rebecca know.

  • We are not reopening the clubhouse so there will no access to toilets or drinking water

  • We are not allowing use of any court equipment still including benches.  Please DO NOT take the benches out to sit on- this is not permitted.

  • We now have to keep temporary records of every court user.  We can do that on Saturday and Sunday doubles play as these are pre-organised on a group chat and we know exactly who is attending.  Everyone else who makes a booking must keep a note of who they are playing with in case we need to provide details for NHS Test & Trace.  No one should be playing at the club without a court booking.

  • Floodlights are now permitted as we would like to provide maximum court space.   The can only be used with very strict guidelines.  Tokens can be purchased from Rebecca only.  Hands must be sanitised additionally before opening the light box and again immediately afterwards.  You must follow the CONDITIONS OF USE which can also be found on the Floodlights tab under COURT BOOKINGS:
  1. Floodlights can only be used Monday - Saturday NOT Sundays
  2. We only have permission to use these until 9.30pm prompt.  No token can be put in the box after 9pm
  3. Court 5 must  be used first, followed by Court 4, Court 3, Court 2 and then Court 1 in that order.
  4. Tokens at  a cost of £2 per 30 mins can be purchased from Rebecca Rose.
  5. If the lights go off you must wait for 15 minutes before using another token this is to protect the bulbs from overheating.  If someone is using the courts before you, you must put your token in before the last one runs out

We have noted that some people are not using hand sanitiser on arrival- this is a requirement.  Also that there is often too many people mingling on arrival or departure.  Please arrive when you are due to be on court and do not hang around but rather proceed to your booked court.

AYLESBURY DISTRICT LEAGUE WINTER MATCHES:  With the changes from the LTA , this league is aiming to resume last season's unfinished matches and get those played by September.  The respective captains will be in touch with team players.

We are looking into the possibility of having a second Mixed team (court space permitting), but this can only happen if we have a volunteer to be captain.  Captaincy involves such things as organising a squad of players, liaising with opposition captains, re-arranging fixures where necessary, entering results, collecting match fees and organising catering for home matches.  For more information please contact our Club Team Captain Ali Lyons  ali@j-mer.co.uk

RACKET RESTRINGING:  Craig offers a racket stringing service- prices from £20.  Please contact Craig direct:  07941 550850

FACILITIES UPDATE:  If anyone would like to volunteer to work with Martin and head up our Club Working Party, please contact him:  martinallen690@btinternet.com

We are pleased to say that courts 1-3 have settled down and are now no more slippery than other tarmac courts.  Tennis shoes with good grip should always be worn- particularly when the courts are damp.

There is a lot in the pipeline for when things are back to normal.  We have had the locks changed to the clubhouse, we are buying a new BBQ, we have plans to finish the hitting wall.  We are aware that things do not look at their best at the moment in this area but please bear with us until things are back to normal.  Thank you for your patience.
