Volunteer Information

General

Except for a fortnightly clean of the clubhouse, everything at the club is done by members.

Every mug put into or taken out of the dishwasher, every old tennis ball picked up and put away, every leaf on the court removed, every bit of pruning, every surface wiped, any litter cleared – all done by members.

And also, every old tennis ball left on court, every top from a tube of balls dropped by the net, every glass left on the table outside, all the crockery left in the sink – also done by members.

Please help.

More specific

If you’d like to do more, the Club would welcome anyone who would like to do something or organise things for the benefit of members – social tennis sessions, weeding, painting, watering plants, checking for wear and tear, mowing, pruning…

All of these things and more are done by volunteers.  If you would like to talk about what you might do, please contact the committee.

While we, the Committee, take your health  and your safety seriously, we are ALL the custodians of health and safety at DLTC.

DLTC Club Rules for Volunteer work on courts, grounds, clubhouse

All members of Drummond can carry out voluntary work on the courts and grounds, under these conditions.

Risk Awareness

1)      All volunteers should read the Risk Assessment sheet on the Club noticeboard before starting work, apply it to the work they intend to do, and check with an experienced club member if unsure.

What to clear with the Committee

  1)      Any work in the playing season which impacts on Members’ use of court, clubhouse or grounds should be cleared with the Committee.  This excludes normal maintenance, weeding, trimming, grass-cutting, sieving etc, though where this might interfere with or distract those playing or coaching on court, they should be asked it it’s okay beforehand.

2)      Work carried out involving noise should be carried out at times when it does not affect those on court, whether playing or coaching. Noise generation should be limited to between 10am and 8pm and at no time on Sunday.

3)      Any technical work involving electricity or water must have committee approval beforehand.

4)      Weed killer should not be used on the grass area.  Grass feed can be used but in evening and fully watered avoiding any concerns from members allowing children and pets to play on the grass.
