Adult beginner and improver courses now available to book

Whether you are brand new to tennis or ready to take the next step, our adult courses are a great way to build your skills, improve your confidence and enjoy learning in a friendly group environment.

Our courses are a great option if you would like structured coaching with the same group of players at the same time each week. It is a relaxed and supportive way to develop your game, build consistency and feel more confident on court.

Book now via the website.

Mixed doubles box league is back!

Our mixed doubles box league starts on Monday 1st June and will run for 6 weeks.

A box league is a fun and flexible way to play more matches against other club members. Pairs are placed into small groups, or “boxes”, and arrange their own matches over the course of the league. It is a great way to meet new people, enjoy some friendly competition and get more match practice.

Holiday sports camps – bookings are now open

After a successful Easter camp, we are ready for more holiday camp fun.

Our holiday sports camps will be running during May half term and across the summer holidays, with half-day and full-day options available for children aged 8–14.

Following feedback, we are also introducing extended mini camps for children aged 5–7, running in the afternoon for 3.5 hours.

Places can be booked now via the website.

MUGA courts – more court space for members

We have now taken over the MUGA courts from Everyone Active and are working with the council on plans to improve the facilities.

Elthorne Park High School will continue to use the courts during school hours. Outside of these times, the courts will become bookable through the Elthorne Tennis website, with all four courts behind the school available to book from 4pm on weekdays.

The planned improvements include:

  • Pressure washing the courts to remove dirt, moss and algae
  • Applying a surface binder to help extend the life of the existing macadam
  • Applying two coats of acrylic paint to improve the playing surface and make the courts more appealing for tennis and netball
  • Replacing the old floodlights with brand new LED floodlights
  • Installing an LTA electronic entry gate, so access works in the same way as the park courts
  • Connecting the floodlights to the LTA gate system
  • Installing windbreaks on the south, west and north-facing fences
  • Adding bins, court signs and benches
  • Extending the access lighting through the park towards the courts

This is an exciting step for the club and should allow even more tennis to take place, giving members access to more courts and helping us continue to grow the game at Elthorne.

We will share further updates as the work progresses.

Aces café – new menu items and vegan options

Aces café serves hot and cold drinks, snacks and sandwiches. Pop down and order something to eat or drink while you watch the tennis.

We have recently trialled some new menu items, including a roasted vegetable and houmous panini and a chocolate and banana loaf cake. Both have been popular and will now feature on the regular menu.

For our dairy and egg-free members, you will be pleased to hear that both new items are vegan. We also have vegan ice creams available for those warmer days.

If you have any suggestions or favourite sandwich combinations, let us know – we are always happy to try something new!
