Come join us for a knock! - Social Tennis
Are you looking to get back into tennis? Or seeking to pick up the racket for the first time? Are you just looking for a club that has a warm, neighourbood feel with an equally warm and social membership? Well you're in luck!
We have a thriving social tennis scene that is the heartbeat of the club, our inclusive approach of using coloured counters drawn from a bag to decide the players on each court, means every member at social tennis is treated equally and our approach means that new members quickly integrate into the club. We welcome new players of all ages and ability levels and you will be well looked after by our group of regular social players.
Our regular social tennis sessions are:
Tuesday evenings from 7pm
Friday evenings from 7pm
Sundays from 2pm to 5pm
Our Floodlights mean that evening social tennis can take place until 10pm, all through the year.
All our social tennis sessions are well attended and good attendance is assured whatever the weather (as long as the courts are not considered to be dangerous for play).
There is also Cardio Tennis for ladies on Mondays. This is a sociable tennis group class with aerobic fitness, a fun workout, drills, hitting lots of tennis balls and all set to music. This costs just £5 per session.
If you would like to come down and experience one of our social sessions, please get in touch with us via our contact form.
Mid-week members
We have a group of mid-week members who have social tennis on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday from 1.30 to 3.30pm. The players use the coloured counters to decide 4s. Full members are also welcome to join in these daytime sessions.
During the school holidays, if Juniors are present at the club, Courts 1 and 4 are allocated to midweek members and courts 2 and 3 are allocated for juniors.
Winter Months
Our social tennis continues throughout the 12 months of the year, when weather conditions allows. However Grove LTC has secured agreements with two local Tennis clubs for indoor courts on Mondays and Wednesday evenings and members are asked to put their names down on the "Winter Indoors" sheet on the notice board in the Clubhouse.
