SINGLES LADDER

SINGLES LADDER

The next round of the singles ladder is about to start. If you would like to get involved please contact

 Stuart Anderson

Overall:  The ladder is comprised of a number of boxes. All players will be assigned to a specific box within the ladder and will play a certain number of matches during each round. The aim is for a maximum of 4 players per box and the rounds will last for 5 weeks. We hope these minor changes to the format of the ladder will result in every player completing all of their matches during each round. That’s just 3 matches over 5 weeks.

Match format:

Match format FAST4:

First to 4 games wins a set

Tie-break at 3 games all to 7 points; 2 points clear at 6-6

Best of 3 sets

Sudden death deuce played throughout.

Ladder rounds: At the end of the round the box winner, the player with the most points, will move up a box and the player with the least points, will move down a box. The cycle then repeats. Members organise matches between themselves using their WhatsApp groups.

Players post their match results to the Singles Ladder WhatsApp group.

If anyone is unable to play during a round, they will be frozen in their current box. Failure to play for 2 consecutive rounds will lead to that player being removed from the ladder for the next round.

Determining box winners:

The player with the most match wins will come top of the box and where possible be promoted. When two payers have equal number of match wins, the following criteria will be used in this order to determine the box winner.

  • The player with the greatest difference between sets won and sets lost.

If still equal

  • The results of their head-to-head match

If no head-to-head match played

  • The player who played the most matches in that current round of the ladder

New joiners: Every new joiner will need to provide their mobile number to be added to the Singles Ladder WhatsApp group and you will be added into an appropriate box so that you can get the best tennis experience possible.

Please contact Stuart Anderson if you’d like to join the ladder.

Have fun!
