Men's third team competition

Over the past few months Paul Ward, has nurtured a group or ‘raw recruits’ instilling in them some key doubles tactics and improving their tennis technique.

The culmination of the Autumn practice sessions was a small tournament which was held on a frosty 4th of December.  Third team members were paired up with members of higher squads for competitive doubles play.

The eventual winner was Paul Jonson (paired with Steve Wingate) beating Peter Fargher (with Ben Ord) by one game in the round robin format.

For social players that want more competitive tennis, the club will be entering into the Durham and Northumberland tennis league a third team in 2019.  The team will be Captained by Stephen McCarrick.

Thanks to all who took part and Paul Ward for organising the event.

In keeping with tradition, the event organiser Paul Ward, yet again lost Ben Ord’s trusty whistle! – can he make it three whistle losses in a row?!
