2025 Spurgeon Cup

Each year, Norfolk Mens county team challenge Suffolk Mens county team to a football match. For many years the game has been known as the 'Spurgeon Cup' in honour of Tony Spurgeon.

With the sad passing of Tony in early December, the match took on even greater significance with a minutes silence before the game.

This year the match was played in Ipswich, with Norfolk 2-0 down inside 10 minutes. The lads pulled one back before half time and then hung in there before equalising in the last minute of the game to make it 2-2.

Norfolk went on to win 5-4 on penalties!

Highlights:

Samual Spurgeon with two rockets from 30 yards and ‘The Cat’ Crawley had a blinder in the shoot out, saving 3 penalties and scored the winning penalty!
